It might take me a couple dogear covers to get that cut to look good though. That cover could be mounted on wood spacers, and the foam spring material could be removed from the bottom of the PU route. I had a couple ideas in mind, but I don't really want it to look like a Red Green job.Ī quick & dirty approach I was thinking of would be to cut the middle out of the dogear P90 cover, and just have the humbucker poking up through that. If I Could Pray, Writer, vocals, acoustic guitar, From the album Humanism. So that route, in this guitar anyhow, is wide enough for a humbucker. He founded Dillion in the mid 90s, after working in sales for several big guitar manufacturers including Dean, B. Peter Dougan Capaldi is a Scottish actor, director, writer and musician. I do have a Kent Armstrong PAF stuffed into the P90 PU cover now, but it's too far from the strings to sound good. It's those dogears sticking out that're half the problem. I don't see anything by him made for dogear P90s. You can use a standard humbucker rout template to cut the 'bucker cavity, then get a slightly wider pickup ring made by this guy to cover the wider P-90 rout. I think these are kind of hit and miss, a buddy of mine plays one of their LP gold top copies as his regular in his band. when i did though, WOW in fact, i wish i still had it. set it up myself and it played like a dream too. it was a cool guitar, once i changed everything that wasn't wood. Most people viewed Japanese-manufactured goods as being cheaply made and poor quality. At the time, Ibanez guitars were not highly regarded, mostly because of their county of origin.

The Dillion Rosewood Tele is stunning Dillion instruments remind me of the Japanese-manufactured, pre-lawsuit guitars Ibanez was building in the '70s. I owned the same dillion except mines was the hardtail version, same color and everything. That's not to say that all Dillions are disappointing guitars but this one sure was. I did a bunch of upgrades and lost my shirt on resale. The finish quality was not what I'd expect from a decent import guitar. A Fender style hard case is available for $100 extra.I owned one of their PRS copies for a while (pictured below).

Like the Japanese, Koreans have made enormous strides in quality guitar building. After a few years, we began to realize that those instruments were as good as, or in some cases even better than the American made instruments on which they were based. These days, Japanese guitars can cost even more than those made right here in the USA.

The Dillion Rosewood Tele is stunning! Dillion instruments remind me of the Japanese-manufactured, pre-lawsuit guitars Ibanez was building in the '70s.
